Day 4 - Dorchester and onwards

Elizabeth and Catherine wanted to go to their weekly 'Rock Choir' practice session.  'Rock Choir' is a national organisation with groups all over the country.

Normally they go to one near home, but you are allowed to attend other groups when away from home.

As the various groups all do the same thing each week, it's relatively seamless to move from one to another - or so the theory goes!

The groups in Dorchester meets at the Dorchester Rugby Club ground.

It needed to have some logistical planning about it, but I took Elizabeth, Catherine and James to the meeting and Sarah and Chris helped me with Harris and James and of course they brought Pepper along.

We decided that we would go to Thorncombe Wood near Dorchester so that the dogs could get a walk and James could have a nature ride in his pushchair.  We would also be able to amble by 'Hardy's Cottage', the house in woodland where the celebrated writer and poet, Thomas Hardy was born and where he lived for much of his early life.  The land around here was the setting for his earlier novels of 'Under the Greenwood Tree' and 'Far From the Madding Crowd'.

Thursday 19 May

Today we decided we'd tour inland a little and our first stop was to see the Cerne Giant just outside Cerne Abbas.
